She is specialized in evidence-based, effective treatments for anxiety disorders and has worked under the guidance of foreign experts in that field since 2012. Ingibjörg is particularly interested in helping those who struggle with symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress/burnout, low self-esteem or have experiencded trauma. Ingibjörg specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders. She uses methods that are most suitable for working with anxiety disorders, including exposure therapy (called flooding with response prevention). ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) which is based on the philosophy of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral analysis (behaviorism) and mindfulness. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is mainly based on identifying the thoughts that fuel distress, reassessing and changing them, and changing the behaviors that maintain the problem. 

Education and work experience

Ingibjörg has a BA in psychology from the University of Iceland and an MA/PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. Through diverse professional training and the doctoral program, she gained a unique view into the world of clinical psychology and a certain specialty in helping individuals to overcome general anxiety and anxiety-related disorders.

Ingibjörg has extensive work experience and has worked in various places where psychological services are provided. She worked from 2017-2020 at the Anxiety Solutions of Denver/Colorado Springs, which offers the best treatments available for anxiety disorders in the United States. She provided counseling and treatment for anxiety disorders to individuals, couples, families and, in some cases, other psychologists, both at the company's psychology clinic and through online therapy sessions. She received vocational training in the following places:

  • University of Denver where she provided general psychotherapy to individuals and families.
  • Denver County Jail where she provided psychological services and conducted parole risk assessments.
  • Humanex Academy where she was involved in diagnostic processes, conducted intake interviews and worked with students with extensive emotional and behavioral difficulties.
  • The Resource Center for Separating and Divorcing Families, where she provided individual, couple, and family psychotherapy to parents and children through the divorce process.
  • Anxiety Solutions of Denver where she provided counseling/treatment to individuals with anxiety disorders.
  • University of Colorado Boulder, a medical and mental health center that offers multidisciplinary treatment for university students.
