Mín líðan offers online psychological services. Our 10 session online therapy program (currently only in Icelandic) is provided by licensed psychologists through written text. Mín líðan also offers remote interviews (in English and Icelandic) where you can talk to a psychologist face-to-face in a video session.

WHAT ARE REMOTE INTERVIEWS?

Video sessions with a psychologist

Remote interviews are online video sessions where you can see and talk to your psychologist. Remote interviews are just like normal on-site interviews, the only difference is that they are through the internet.

We can can help you reduce the symptoms of depression, low self-esteem, compulsion and obsession, PTSD, stress and anxiety (e.g. social anxiety, generalized anxiety, health anxiety and panic attacks). We can also help you with improving your quality of life, reducing sleep problems and dealing with personal challenges.

What's the price?

Subsidized by most Icelandic unions

The price of a 50 minute remote interview is 17.000-18.500 kr. The number of interviews each person needs varies and is assessed and estimated in the first interview.

Most unions subsidize Mín líðan's services (learn more here). The subsidy is different for each union. In some cases the municipal social services subsidize psychological services. Some companies also subsidize therapy for their employees. Contact your union, municipal social services or workplace to get more information.

ARE REMOTE INTERVIEWS SAFE?

Secure and encrypted with Kara Connect

Mín líðan uses Kara Connect to provide remote interviews. Kara is a secure software and complies with the strictest security requirements for personal information and data about clients.

Your data is secure and Kara Connect is hosted in a secure area. All communications that take place in Kara are securely encrypted. Kara operates in accordance with Act no. 77/2000 on personal protection and handling of personal information.

  • Yes, everyone is welcome to book a remote interview with Mín líðan, there is no need to meet any conditions for this. Anyone who has access to a computer or smart device with a webcam and internet connection can use remote interviews.

  • You press 'Choose a psychologist' above and you will see Mín líðan's psychologists. You press 'Bóka tíma' with the psychologist you want to start therapy with, and go to Kara Connect's site, which is the software used for remote interviews. There you choose 'Ask for service' and register. You will be offered an appointment via email that you can accept or decline.

  • It's necessary to cancel a remote interview the day before, otherwise you will be charged. If you cancel on the same day, you will be charged 50% of the interview. A full fee is charged for remote interviews that are not attended. You can cancel an interview by sending an e-mail to minlidan@minlidan.is or by sending an e-mail to your psychologist. Please note that Mín líðan's partners do not pay for interviews that are not attended.

  • Before you start the therapy you are asked to fill in the card information on the Kara Connect website. Payment for a remote interview is deducted from the card after the interview. You can get a receipt at Kara Connect's website.

  • In the first interview your psychologist will ask why you decided to see a psychologist, how long you have been feeling unwell and how it affects your daily life. At the end of the interview, the treatment options available to you are reviewed and the psychologist offers you a new appointment.

  • Psychotherapy usually ranges from 10-20 remote interviews, but it is very different how many interviews each person needs. In the first interview your psychologist can estimate how many interviews you will need.

  • No one has access the information provided in the therapy, except you and your psychologist. Psychologists at Mín líðan are bound by confidentiality, which means that all information you provide during therapy is confidential. However, there are exceptions to that rule, i.e. if your psychologist believes you or someone close to you is in danger (see Mín líðan's Terms and Conditions on Kara Connect's website for more information). Psychologists at Mín líðan work in accordance with the Nordic code of conduct that applies to members of the Icelandic Psychological Association. Further information about psychologist's confidentiality can be obtained from the Office of the Medical Director of Health.

  • Yes. Mín líðan uses Kara Connect for remote interviews, which is a safe software.

  • You can download the Kara Connect app (available in the Play Store or App store) and attend a video session there. It is best to use Google Chrome, except if you are using an iphone / ipad, then Safari is recommended.
